Why should I join Band?
Studies Show a direct link between music and intelligence. One particular study found that after six months of lessons, children who received musical training performed 34% higher on tests measuring spatial-temporal ability than others. These finding indicate that music uniquely enhances high brain functions required for mathematics, science and engineering.
We also know that music is an integral part of a complete education. Music augments awareness and sensitivity in children. Quality in music learning transfers to quality in all learning.
Learning to play an instrument can also be a very rewarding experience.
Students who study music:
*Explore their own creativity and expression.
*Connect with their community and cultural heritage.
*Achieve in school.
~Students in music classes score higher on ACT test. (research fact #27)
~Music students rank higher in Reading and Math. (research fact #36)
~Music students receive more honors in school. (research fact #58)
~Music students rank high in self-esteem. (research facts #32 & 44)
